August 29, 2025 Children’s Sermon Nero
Blessings children. Please be seated so we can start. Alright, who knows who Nero was?
Yes, Mary.
A man in the bible.
Yes, he is in scripture, however he was also a leader of Roman, which means you will also learn about him in school. Today however I am only going to talk to you of the evil he did to Believers in the Messiah. Nero was the 5th emperor of Rome, and ruled A.D. 54-68. You know he only ruled for fourteen years, yet he is remembered as one of the most evil leaders in history, even more so then Hitler. You see Nero killed anyone who stood in his way or disagreed with what he wanted. By his command hundreds of high ranking officials were killed. Nero actually had his own wife and mother killed. Know it is important that you understand that the Romans disliked Believers because they would not join in their wild celebrations to honor the Roman gods. We see Paul was brought before Nero in 2 Timothy 4:22 “The Lord Jesus Christ [be] with thy spirit. Grace [be] with you. Amen. [[[The second [epistle] unto Timotheus, ordained the first bishop of the church of the Ephesians, was written from Rome, when Paul was brought before Nero the second time.]]]” Then one day a great fire broke out and destroyed much of the Roman city. It is believed that Nero himself started the fire so he had a reason to build a new palace, however Nero pinned it on the Believers. And because of that hundreds of Believers were tortured and burned to death. So you can see Nero was a very evil man, yet we are to pray for him anyway, just as we are to pray for all those that do evil for scripture tells us too. So what have we learned from Nero.
Yes, Tommy.
Not to kill.
Yes that is true, what else? Yes, Tina.
He was a very bad man and not to be mean.
Yes, he was, and we are not to be mean either. Anything else? Yes, Bobby.
That Nero hated Believers.
Yes, that is true as well. Okay, let’s pray.
Dear Heavenly Father, We thank You for all the blessings and we pray for all those who are evil and mean and ask You to forgive them and help them in Yeshua’s precious name, Amen.
May the Lord bless and keep you all.
